Biography

Carissa is a digital native with over a decade of experience using visual design to tell better stories. She employs an audience-first methodology when crafting communications strategies and leverages technology to build engaging experiences. Currently, she is the Assistant Director of Digital Marketing at the Yale Alumni Association.

She received her MS in Information Design and Technology from the State University of New York Polytechnic Institute. Here, she received the 2016 IDT Program Award for her thesis, which explored how representation in visual marketing and storytelling influenced women and girls interested in STEM fields.

She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth with a BFA in Graphic Design and Letterform. While studying at UMass, Carissa was inducted into the Golden Key International Honor Society, led the Communicatus Graphic Arts student organization, and served as president of the Senior Design class.

She was the Media and Design Specialist for Women's Health Research at Yale from 2014 – 2019 and served the Yale School of Medicine's Office of the Dean from 2012 – 2014. Prior to joining Yale University in 2012, she gained both in-house and studio design experience in a variety of industries, including publishing, print design, environmental graphics, web design, and promotional marketing.
