The Yale Pediatric Gender Program (YPGP) and its co-founder and director, Christy Olezeski, PhD, associate professor of psychiatry, have been selected as the 2024 recipient of the Connecticut Psychological Association (CPA) Community Partnership Award.
The award recognizes YPGP’s work to support transgender and gender expansive youth and families in Connecticut, and beyond. CPA also recognizes the clinic for providing comprehensive, interdisciplinary, family-centered care for children, adolescents, and young adults questioning their assigned gender and/or seeking gender-affirming consultation and care in a compassionate, respectful, and supportive environment.
The award will be presented at CPA’s annual convention November 8 at the Yale West Campus Convention Center in Orange.
“I am deeply honored to accept this award on behalf of our program,” Olezeski said. “At a time when fearmongering, misinformation, and attacks on trans rights are directly impacting care, we are grateful to CPA for recognizing the evidence-based, holistic care we provide to all our transgender and gender-diverse patients and their families.”
YPGP is an interdisciplinary team that includes professionals in the fields of psychology, endocrinology, psychiatry, gynecology, reproductive medicine, medical ethics, and law. The program serves clients from all eight counties in the state and states outside of Connecticut.
Olezeski joined the faculty of the Yale Department of Psychiatry in 2013.
