Thomas J. McMahon, PhD, professor emeritus of psychiatry and in the Child Study Center, has been named a fellow in the American Psychological Association's Society of Couple and Family Psychology (APA Division 43).
The appointment occurred at the APA's annual convention in early August, when McMahon was one of 72 current fellows elected to that status as an affiliate of another division.
Status as a fellow is an honor bestowed upon members who have been nominated by an APA division for making an outstanding contribution to the field of psychology.
At the August conference, McMahon was named a fellow in the Society of Couple and Family Psychology in recognition of the contributions he has made to policy, research, education, and practice designed to better address the needs of family systems affected by parental addiction.
At the 2023 annual convention, McMahon was first elected to fellow status in the Society for Child and Family Policy and Practice (APA Division 37).
