What is your role in the Department of Internal Medicine?
I work as a research assistant in the Veterans Aging Cohort Study (VACS). My role includes helping people enroll in the study to increase access to medical record information and being hands-on with upcoming study collaborations. I joined the team in 2011 as a junior in high school.
Why did you decide to work at Yale School of Medicine?
It was an opportunity presented to me when I was a part-time research aid. With team mentoring and experience my role expanded, and I was promoted to my current research assistant position. Since then, I haven’t looked back!
Have you been involved in any projects you are particularly proud of?
The VACS team works on important studies, especially those focused on HIV status and veterans. The resources and data collected help us better understand the connections between humans and substance use.
What is a fun fact about you?
I enjoy all things related to horror or Halloween! All year, I wait for autumn to arrive. In addition to watching thrillers and horror movies, I enjoy exploring supernatural locations, stories, and adventures. I even participate in monster trivia!
Tell us some advice you received that you will never forget.
