Why did you choose medicine?
I have always loved science and math but knew I could never sit at a desk or lab bench; I wanted to work with people. I was drawn to the problem solving of clinical medicine and the meaningful relationships with patients and their families.
Why did you choose Yale Department of Internal Medicine for your fellowship?
Having been a resident here, I knew this department is very supportive of its trainees. The faculty are dedicated to teaching and care about the professional development and overall well-being of residents and fellows. I knew I wanted to stay here for fellowship to continue working with the wonderful faculty in Geriatrics!
What was your path to Yale?
Born and raised in Connecticut, I have always been an East Coaster (hey, I-95!). I went to Brown for undergrad and medical school, and in between spent some time working in research in Boston. I wanted to come back to Connecticut for residency and fellowship to be closer to my family, and Yale had an outstanding internal medicine and geriatrics program—it seemed too good to be true. To top it off, my husband was already a general surgery resident at Yale, so we knew this is where we wanted to start our careers.
What is a fun fact about you?
I gave birth to my daughter, Violet, as a third-year internal medicine resident this past October 2022!
