The Yale Surgery Citizenship Awards Committee has named Raul Guzman, MD, the 2024 recipient of the Dr. Walter E. Longo MD Award. Dr. Guzman is the division chief of vascular surgery and interim division chief of cardiac surgery. This award recognizes a faculty member's outstanding contributions to the Department of Surgery. Past recipients include Nina Horowitz, MD, Ronald Salem, MD, Ronnie Rosenthal, MD, and Benjamin L. Judson, MD, MBA.
“The Dr. Walter E. Longo MD Award was established in 2019 to honor faculty who lead by example. Dr. Guzman was nominated by his peers for his extraordinary dedication, mentorship, and commitment to fostering a collaborative and supportive environment,” said Nita Ahuja, MD, MBA, chair of the Department of Surgery.
Dr. Guzman is a distinguished vascular surgeon and leader. He has significantly contributed to advancing care in his specialties and inspiring excellence throughout the department.
