Alyssa Gillego, MD, has been appointed an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Surgical Oncology at Yale School of Medicine. She joins the practice at the Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Center at Greenwich. Dr. Gillego received her medical degree from Far Eastern University in the Philippines. Following her general surgery residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, she completed a breast surgery fellowship at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital Center. Prior to joining Greenwich Hospital, Dr. Gillego practiced at Mount Sinai Beth Israel in New York.
Dr. Gillego’s practice focuses on the treatment of benign and malignant disorders of the breast. She provides compassionate care and clinical excellence to patients with breast disease. Her primary goal is to provide the highest level of care to patients diagnosed with breast cancer. Dr. Gillego works with a multidisciplinary team that includes radiologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, and plastic surgeons. Her clinical interests include breast cancer in young women, hereditary breast cancer syndromes, and women at high-risk for developing breast cancer. Dr. Gillego offers patients the latest advancements in breast surgery, including oncoplastic techniques and nipple-sparing mastectomy.
