On April 9, 2018 at Yale-New Haven Hospital (YNHH), Drs. Charles Matouk, Section Chief of Neurovascular Surgery, and Branden Cord, senior neurosurgical resident, performed the first Neuroform Atlas stent (Stryker Neurovascular) procedure in Connecticut. This new technology made treatment of a patient’s complex brain aneurysm both safe and effective.
In the Figure above, the patient’s aneurysm is highlighted in green and the intracranial stent outlined in red. The stent protects vital brain vessels during the endovascular coiling procedure to secure the aneurysm.
The Section of Neurovascular Surgery is the largest in Connecticut and one of the largest in New England. Performing over 1100 neurovascular procedures per year, we pride ourselves on offering all modalities of treatment including many cutting edge technologies only available through clinical trials.
