Teaching Prizes Awarded at MD Commencement Ceremony
Seven teaching awards were announced at the Yale School of Medicine MD Class of 2025 Ceremony. The prizes and winners were:
The Charles W. Bohmfalk Prize for teaching in the basic sciences: Meenakshi Alreja, PhD, associate professor of psychiatry and neuroscience
The Charles W. Bohmfalk Prize for teaching in the clinical sciences: Stephen Holt, MD, MS, associate professor of medicine (general medicine)
The Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award: Oluwatosin Adeyemo, MD, MPH, assistant professor of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive sciences
The Alvan R. Feinstein Award for outstanding teaching of clinical skills: Samuel Buck, MD, assistant professor of emergency medicine
The Leah M. Lowenstein Award for excellence in the promotion of humane and egalitarian medical education: Sabrina Nunez, PhD, associate professor of genetics
The Francis Gilman Blake Award for outstanding teaching of the medical sciences: John Guzzi, MD, assistant professor of anesthesiology. The recipient of this award is chosen by the graduating class.
The Betsy Winters House Staff Award: Richard Maduka, MD, a PGY-5 resident in the Department of Surgery, and Ally Yang, MD, a PGY-3 resident in the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation. The recipients of this award are also chosen by the graduating class to honor the house staff members who have made the most significant contributions to the education of medical students.
