  • 00:01This is a really active
  • 00:02area of research and could
  • 00:04be due to many different
  • 00:05factors linked with, some of
  • 00:07these statistics that we see
  • 00:08for early onset breast cancer.
  • 00:10Some of the factors could
  • 00:11be biologic reasons for why
  • 00:12these cancers could be more
  • 00:14aggressive,
  • 00:15as well as genetic factors
  • 00:16that could be driving the
  • 00:18development of these more aggressive
  • 00:20cancers.
  • 00:21I think one of the
  • 00:22biggest factors is screening impacting,
  • 00:24the more aggressive nature of
  • 00:26these cancers or perhaps more
  • 00:27late stage identification
  • 00:29of these cancers.
  • 00:30We know that, it's really
  • 00:32important to adhere to breast
  • 00:33cancer screening guidelines in the
  • 00:35population to catch these cancers
  • 00:36when they're early and curable
  • 00:39and treatable.
  • 00:40And what we noticed in
  • 00:41the COVID nineteen pandemic is
  • 00:43that screening rates were not
  • 00:45able to be adhered to
  • 00:46because of the pandemic going
  • 00:47on. And so one of
  • 00:49the biggest things to keep
  • 00:50in mind is have the
  • 00:51screening done, at the right
  • 00:53time. And some of the
  • 00:54factors that influence that could
  • 00:55be,
  • 00:56knowledge of family history. So
  • 00:58breast cancer screening might need
  • 00:59to start at a younger
  • 01:00age if there's a family
  • 01:02history of breast cancer. And
  • 01:03therefore, if screening isn't started,
  • 01:05at the right time, these
  • 01:07cancers that are detected could
  • 01:08be detected at a later
  • 01:10stage and could be more
  • 01:11aggressive.
  • 01:12I think it really points
  • 01:13to the need to emphasize
  • 01:14public awareness about the need
  • 01:16for breast cancer screening and
  • 01:17knowledge of family history and
  • 01:19then more research that is
  • 01:20needed to get some insights
  • 01:21about the aggressiveness of these
  • 01:23cancers.
