Biography

Dr. Christine B. Cha is an Associate Professor at the Yale Child Study Center, and the inaugural core faculty member at the Yale Center for Brain and Mind Health. Dr. Cha received her BA in Psychology and Spanish from Wellesley College, PhD in Clinical Psychology from Harvard University, and completed her internship training at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. For the past >15 years, Dr. Cha's research has focused on youth suicide: how best to assess, predict, and reduce the risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviors early in life. Dr. Cha’s work has been funded by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), the US Department of Defense, and the New York City Department of Health. She serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology, Journal of Psychopathology and Clinical Science, and General Hospital Psychiatry, and received the Rising Star Award from the Association for Psychological Science in 2021. Dr. Cha is also a licensed psychologist in Connecticut and New York. Up until 2024 she was Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology and Director of the Laboratory for Clinical and Developmental Studies at Teachers College (TC), Columbia University, and maintains a faculty appointment at TC as Honorary Associate Research Professor.
