Biography

Rosa is a Neuroscience PhD student and Gruber Science Fellow at Yale School of Medicine. Here she is completing her thesis work in Dr. Marina Picciotto's laboratory in the Molecular Psychiatry department. During her undergraduate studies, she worked in the laboratories of Dr. Susana Cohen-Cory, Dr. Christie Fowler, and Dr. Marcelo Wood. Her research focuses have covered various effects of drug use (development, addiction, and memory). At Yale she is continuing by studying contextual effects on fentanyl tolerance and addiction. In addition to her research, she has participated in academic and community outreach at various institutions and is continuing to do so at Yale as the YSACNAS Social Chair, YBDIC mentor, and educator. Her goals are to help bridge the gaps in science accessibility and aid in destigmatizing psychiatric disorders, with a particular focus on the Latin community as a Latina in STEM.

Research

Overview

Rosa is studying the underlying cellular and molecular mechanisms of psychiatric disorders. Specifically she is examining context dependent effects on fentanyl tolerance and addiction.
