Melika Salimi

Melika is a rising junior at the University of New Haven, majoring in General Biology. Melika is a Rising Star Award recipient and is interested in pursuing a career as a physician-scientist. She has experience as a Lab Assistant at the University of New Haven and clinical shadowing experience at Yale New Haven Hospital. These opportunities along with personal experiences have sparked an interest in better understanding the human brain and mental health. As an international student leader, Melika has proven her leadership, communication, and cross-cultural competence skills. Melika joined the YSERE program to develop foundational research skills, deepen her understanding of biomedical concepts, and explore potential research interests in neuroscience and genetics.
