Biography

I am a molecular biologist with more than 15 years of experience in basic research, cancer and vaccine development. I studied multiple viral and cellular proteins employing a wide variety of biochemical and cellular biology methods, including establishing functional assays. Currently, my focus is on breast cancer and melanoma. We use a variety of mouse models to identify factors that promote tumorigenesis and metastasis with the hope of finding future targets for cancer therapy. On the side, I am the lab manager for the Yan lab and enjoy helping lab members with their questions about experiments and also assisting them with questions outside the lab.

Outside of science, I enjoy my dogs - Josie (our Viszla) and Naiah (our Chesapeake Bay Retriever) - hiking, gardening, reading, cooking and maintaining our family farm.
