Rajesh Rao, M.D. ’07, Leslie H. and Abigail S. Wexner Emerging Scholar and assistant professor in the Retina Service in the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences at the University of Michigan, has been selected as a recipient of the American Society of Clinical Investigation (ASCI) Young Physician-Scientist Award. The award recognizes young physician-scientists who are supported by NIH K or similar significant career-development awards, are early in their first faculty appointment, and have made notable achievements in their research. The awardees will present their work at the ASCI meeting on April 22.
Rao will discuss the first use of precision medicine for lymphoma of the eye (vitreoretinal lymphoma). This award is open to any medical or surgical specialty but is one ophthalmologists rarely receive.
