Dr. Huned Patwa, Professor of Neurology; Chief, VA Neurology Service; Chief Division of Neuromuscular Medicine; and Co-Director, MDA Clinic, was recently awarded the ALS Association CT Chapter’s Beacon of Light Award in a virtual ceremony. The Award recognizes superior and compassionate medical care to patients fighting amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
Dr. Patwa’s work in the fight against ALS is far-reaching. He leads the ALSA Certified Center of Excellence at the West Haven VA Hospital, sees patients at the Yale New Haven Health Long Ridge Medical Center, and advocates on behalf of ALS patients with US representatives. With the Beacon of Light Award, Dr. Patwa has been honored for bringing expertise, dedication, and a sense of comfort to patients facing such a dauting and degenerative nervous system disease.
