KENYAN HEALTH CARE INITIATIVES, INC.

RALPH F. STROUP, MD

In 2008 Dr. Stroup travelled to the Central Highlands of Kenya to help facilitate an HIV/AIDS workshop. While there, he was invited by his Maasai guests to visit some very remote areas of Laikipia County where he saw abject poverty, food insecurity, substandard primary health care facilities, poor water accessibility, and illiteracy. He then returned to the US and founded the Kenyan Health Care Initiatives, which is now a certified 501(c) 3 non profit that helps to develop primary health care infrastructure, clean water initiatives, educational grants for health care professionals, and at present, the non-profit is raising funds to build a new health clinic in Ntalabany, Kenya—an extremely remote area where the need is great.
