Christopher L. Moore, MD, professor of emergency medicine, received the 2025 Phil Stent Award from the Connecticut College of Emergency Physicians, the local chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians. The award honors members of the emergency medicine community in Connecticut who have made special contributions to the field of emergency medicine and have exhibited exceptional dedication and leadership. At Yale, Moore is also chief of the Section of Emergency Medicine and director of the Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship.

Jordan Silberg, MD, assistant professor of pediatrics, recently won the Greenwich Hospital Norm Roth Leadership Award, given annually to one medical staff member who has strong leadership potential. Silberg was specifically nominated for his work in enhancing quality and safety in the Department of Pediatrics at Greenwich Hospital.

James Nugent, MD, MPH, and Julia Rosenberg, MD, MHS, were elected as new members to the Society of Pediatric Research (SPR) for 2026. Established in 1929, SPR cultivates a diverse network of child health researchers through collaboration, community, mentorship, and advocacy. Nugent is instructor of pediatrics at Yale School of Medicine and an investigator at Yale’s Clinical and Translational Research Accelerator. Rosenberg is assistant professor of pediatrics (general pediatrics), the associate director of the Yale Pediatric Immigrant and Refugee Clinic, and a faculty affiliate of the Yale Institute for Global Health.

Brenda Cabrera-Mendoza, MD, PhD, postdoctoral associate in the laboratory of Renato Polimanti, PhD, MSc, was selected as an Early Career Investigator Awardee by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA). This highly competitive award recognizes outstanding early-stage investigators conducting impactful research in addiction science. Cabrera-Mendoza presented her work on the genetic basis of alcohol use in U.S. veterans at the 2025 NIDA–NIAAA Frontiers in Addiction Research Mini-Convention on Nov. 14.

Women’s Health Access Matters (WHAM) presented 2025 WHAM Edge Awards to Na-Young Rho, PhD, postdoctoral associate in the laboratory of Kutluk Oktay, MD, PhD, at Yale School of Medicine, and Domenica Berardi, PhD, postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences in the Yale School of Public Health. Each receives a $25,000 research grant to advance pioneering work on how biological sex influences health outcomes. Rho’s project is titled “Epigenome Reprogramming as a Strategy to Reverse Ovarian Aging." Berardi’s project is “Unravelling Hormonal, Metabolic, and Immune Mechanisms of Colorectal Cancer in Postmenopausal Women.”

The Office of Graduate Medical Education has presented the Rosemarie L. Fisher Excellence in Graduate Medical Education Awards for 2025 to three individuals: Mark Siegel, MD (left), professor of medicine (pulmonary) and program director of the Internal Medicine – Traditional Residency Program; Paul Desan, MD, PhD, associate professor of psychiatry and program director for the Consultative Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship; and Ania Shea, program manager in the Department of Surgery Office of Education.

The Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA) named Isaac Chang, a student in the Yale Physician Associate Online Program, as a 2025-2026 PAEA Future Educator Fellow. The fellowship helps PA students develop foundational and functional educator competencies and demonstrate their learning through modules, teach-backs, and scholarly presentations. Chang delivered a lecture on “Third Party Resources: Rise of An Empire” at the recent PAEA conference in San Diego, California.
