Biography

Iyanuoluwa Odole is a public health professional with a focus on global health, cancer epidemiology, and healthcare research. As the first Global Health Academic Leadership Fellow at the Yale School of Public Health (YSPH), she played a pivotal role in shaping the Global Health concentration, providing invaluable advisory support and spearheading programs and events that expanded global health opportunities for students and faculty alike. Her work has significantly advanced the field of cancer epidemiology, particularly addressing health disparities and the critical underrepresentation of African genomic data in cancer research. She collaborated with international research institutions and local communities to conduct extensive analyses of genomic data from African populations, which has been vital in developing tailored cancer management and prevention strategies for individuals of African descent. She also led innovative projects that leveraged technological advancements in cancer screening, developing digital health interventions to improve lung cancer screening, potentially enhancing access to care, and reducing health disparities in cancer prevention and control efforts.

For her significant contribution to cancer research and her collaboration with the Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN) and the Multidisciplinary Tumor Board (MTB) to improve the lives of women in underserved communities across Africa through breast cancer examination and screening, she was awarded the prestigious Margaret McNamara Award.
