Biography

Dr. Sarav is a nephrologist and clinical informaticist with extensive experience in treating complex renal conditions and a special interest in renal nutrition. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine, Nephrology at Yale University, where she leads multidisciplinary teams to provide advanced medical care for nephrology patients. Dr. Sarav also mentors and teaches residents, fellows, and advanced practice practitioners.

Dr. Sarav completed her nephrology clinical fellowship at the University of Chicago, where she also served as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Dr. Richard J. Quigg’s laboratory, focusing on the mechanisms of proteinuria and immune complex processing in the kidney.

She holds a Master of Management in Clinical Informatics (MMCI) from Duke University School of Medicine, where she undertook extensive coursework in health IT, data science, and healthcare business solutions.

Dr. Sarav’s clinical areas of interests include glomerulonephritis, proteinuric kidney disease, renal nutrition with a focus on slowing down progression of kidney disease. Her research interests include advancing the understanding of renal diseases and improving patient outcomes through clinical trials and informatics tools. She has been the principal investigator for numerous clinical trials, including the NefIgArd study, which evaluates the efficacy and safety of Nefecon in patients with primary IgA nephropathy.

Beyond her clinical and research contributions, Dr. Sarav is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Nephrology (ASN), the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN), and the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA). She is also committed to mentorship and volunteer efforts through AMIA’s Women in AMIA and HIMSS' Clinician Burnout Committee.
