Ebola 10 Years On - Reflections and Lessons Learned

December 2023 marks the 10-year anniversary of the emergence of Ebola in West Africa that caused a tragic epidemic with more than 10,000 deaths in Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. During this webinar from 12:00 - 1:30pm ET, senior health leaders who responded to the epidemic will share their reflections on the weaknesses in healthcare, public health, and health financing that exacerbated the Ebola crisis in their countries, as well as lessons learned that can be or have already been applied to better respond to emerging infectious disease threats, build more resilient health systems, and improve health outcomes globally. Panelists include Dr. Bernice Dahn, Former Minister of Health, Liberia; Dr. Sylla Thiam, Former Regional Director, Amref, West Africa; and David Mandu Farley Kelli-Coomber IV, Paramount Chief, Mandu Chiefdom, Sierra Leone.

The event is generously supported by the George Herbert Walker, Jr. Lecture Fund in International Studies and is cosponsored by the Council on African Studies at the MacMillan Center at Yale.
