Implementation science is the critical discipline that can help ensure that efficacious tools for HIV prevention and treatment have maximum impact in the real world. Implementation science trials will be an important component of this scientific agenda if they are informative, rigorous, relevant, useful and feasible. Dr. Hargreaves will discuss issues implementation scientists will need to consider if they are to face up to these challenges, with examples.
