Biography

Ahmed K. Awad, MD, earned his medical degree from Ain Shams University Faculty of Medicine, graduating summa cum laude. He completed an internship in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Ain Shams University Hospitals, followed by two years as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Cardiac Surgery in the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. He subsequently joined the Integrated Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency (I-6) at Yale New Haven Hospital.

Dr. Awad is actively engaged in research, education, and mentorship. His scholarly work—spanning manuscripts, abstracts, book chapters, and oral presentations—focuses on valvular heart disease, complex cardiac surgery, and lung transplantation, with significant contributions to multicenter database analyses and meta-analyses. He is committed to advancing surgical education and leadership, serving on the editorial boards of multiple indexed surgical journals and contributing as a speaker, program planner, and mentor within local and national surgical organizations. His long-term goal is to integrate surgical excellence with innovation, education, and leadership to advance the field of cardiac surgery and improve patient outcomes.
