Register now for Medical Education Day at Yale

May 30, 2013

Note: Online registration closes June 14th.

The YSM Teaching and Learning Center will host a half-day conference, “Medical Education Day at Yale: Enhancing Educator Development and Scholarship,” on June 24.

LuAnn A. Wilkerson, Ed.D., will give the keynote address, “Teaching Improvement that Focuses on Competencies for Effective Teaching in the Health Professions.” Dr. Wilkerson is Professor of Medicine and Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.

The program (See link above right) includes a poster session, as well as a dozen workshops on topics ranging from “Being Effective as a Mentor and Mentee” to “Introduction to Team-Based Learning: Small Groups in Large Group Settings.” Leaders in medical education, including Yale faculty members and keynote speaker Wilkerson, will participate in a speed meeting session, which provide a time for informal conversation in a small group with leaders in education whom they may not ordinarily meet.

The event will close with poster presentations and a wine and cheese reception from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the TAC upper lobby. Posters will be presented by Yale faculty, staff and students featuring topic areas including innovations in teaching, curriculum, assessment, mentoring and leadership.

Registration for workshops and the speed meeting session is on a first-come, first-served basis. The number of attendees in these sessions will be limited to ensure a small group experience. To register, visit the home page of the Teaching and Learning Center website (http://tlc.yale.edu) and click on “If you have not already registered for this event you may click here to register.”
