Overview
Seth Powsner, MD, is an emergency medicine and psychiatry specialist who helps individuals experiencing pressing mental health needs. He addresses urgent concerns by stabilizing immediate crises and guiding patients toward long-term emotional well-being. Dr. Powsner uses a range of approaches to support patients, drawing on both emergency assessment and psychiatric care.
As a professor of psychiatry and of emergency medicine at Yale School of Medicine, he researches how technology can make clinical information clearer for health care providers. “Computer technology makes it far easier to collect and retrieve clinical information than to understand it,” Dr. Powsner says. “My goal is to present data in a way that encourages thoughtful treatment planning based on each patient’s history.”
Dr. Powsner received his medical training from Yale School of Medicine and completed his residency in psychiatry at Michael Reese Hospital/University of Illinois.
