Overview

Hamita Sachar, MD, specializes in treating gastrointestinal (GI) conditions, such as abdominal migraines, diarrhea, functional abdominal pain syndrome, and GI bleeding. She utilizes various diagnostic and therapeutic techniques, including lower GI series, hepatobiliary scans, abdominal duplex ultrasounds, and barium enemas. Additionally, she performs innovative therapies like gut-directed hypnotherapy and fecal transplants for treating traveler's diarrhea.

Dr. Sachar's research explores sedation, anesthesia, gastrointestinal endoscopy, and ulcer treatment and prevention.

A participant in the Gastrointestinal Organizational Leadership Development (GOLD) Program and the Emerging Leaders Program, Dr. Sachar received the Samuel Kushlan Award for Excellence in Research and a Teaching Award conferred by chief residents.
