Rachel Hantman, MEd, MA

Rachel Hantman, MEd, MA, is a predoctoral Autism Psychology Fellow at the Yale Child Study Center. She is currently completing her doctoral degree in Clinical-Community Psychology from the University of South Carolina, where she also completed her Master’s degree in Clinical-Community Psychology and a Certification in Quantitative Psychology. She also holds a Master of Education from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Washington. Broadly, her research centers on understanding the role of context and biobehavioral interactions in families with neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism, Fragile X syndrome, and the Fragile X premutation (FXpm). For her doctoral dissertation, she is examining maternal-child cardiac synchrony in dyads with the FXpm and probing how physiological synchrony varies by behavioral synchrony and environmental factors (e.g., parenting stress, family relationship quality). For the past five years, she has served as a clinician at the Psychology Services Center (Columbia, SC), Prisma Health Hospital (Columbia, SC), and the Medical University of South Carolina (Charleston, SC) where she has provided therapeutic and diagnostic services for, largely, children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental differences. In her free time, Rachel enjoys reading, crafting, and cooking/baking for loved ones.
