Michael Sobieraj, MD, is a cardiologist who specializes in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology, focusing on caring for patients with the most serious and complex heart conditions. His work includes managing clinical scenarios that require long-term care, multidisciplinary coordination, and nuanced decision-making.
“My grandfather lived with progressive heart failure and subsequent renal failure for more than 25 years, during an era with far more limited medical and device-based therapies,” he says. “His course highlighted the impact of careful medical management, patient engagement, and sustained physician–patient partnership, and it continues to shape my approach to the care of patients with advanced illness.
As an assistant professor at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Sobieraj is involved in research dedicated to advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology.
Dr. Sobieraj received his medical degree from the Frank H. Netter School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University. He pursued residency training in internal medicine at Northwell Health, followed by a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University/Deborah Heart and Lung Center, and an advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology fellowship at Yale School of Medicine.
