Maria Montenegro, MD, PhD

Maria Augusta Montenegro, M.D., Ph.D., is a pediatric neurologist and epileptologist at Yale New Haven Children's Hospital, affiliated to Yale University. Her clinical expertise focuses on pediatric epilepsy, particularly epileptic drug resistant epilepsy, EEG and the ketogenic diet. Dr. Montenegro completed medical school, residency, and her Ph.D. at the University of Campinas in Brazil, followed by postdoctoral research training at Columbia University in New York. She also gained specialized experience at the Herscot Center for Tuberous Sclerosis Complex at Massachusetts General Hospital. She has published numerous scientific papers and book chapters and has contributed significantly to the field of pediatric epilepsy through clinical care, research, and medical education.
