Daniel Cherry, MD, MAS

Daniel Cherry, MD, MAS, is an assistant professor of radiation oncology at Yale School of Medicine, Smilow Cancer Hospital, and the Connecticut Proton Center. He focuses on the care of patients with thoracic, genitourinary, central nervous system and hematologic malignancies.

Dr. Cherry utilizes advanced radiotherapy techniques including stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) and intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), as well as proton therapy. His research interests include machine learning and patient-reported outcomes. He is the recipient of multiple national research awards.

Dr. Cherry received his medical degree from the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, where he also earned a Master of Advanced Studies with funding from a TL1 training grant awarded by the National Institutes of Health. He completed residency in radiation oncology at Icahn School of Medicine, where he served as chief resident.

Before medical school, Dr. Cherry earned undergraduate degrees in molecular biology and English literature at Vanderbilt University, and served for three years in the United States Peace Corps in Mongolia.
