Biography
Dr. Amir Mohammad is dual-boarded in Internal Medicine and Occupational & Environmental Medicine. Dr. Mohammad completed his Internal Medicine residency training as well as Master's degree in public health (MPH) from University of Connecticut Health Center. Afterwards, he completed his Clinical Fellowship in Occupational & Environmental Medicine (OEM) at Yale University School of Medicine. He subsequently joined the VA Connecticut Healthcare System and served at various local, regional, and national leadership roles within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). During his tenure, he also provided clinical consultation at the NJ WRIISC Program and evaluated Veterans with deployments related health concerns.
He is currently serving as a Medical Officer for the Veterans Benefits Administration within Compensation Service. He is responsible for overseeing the clinical quality of the Veterans' disability exams being conducted by private contractors through out the country. He collaborates with the Quality Analysts in reviewing the clinical quality exam criteria and provides clinical feedback on quality trends and scores on disability exams. He is a team member collaborating with DoD and his expertise include occupational and environmental exposures among service members and Veterans. Most recently he provided training on utilization of Telehealth and ACE process amid COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Mohammad is passionate about teaching students, residents, and fellows and has been a recipient of several awards and recognitions including Certificate of Appreciation for Yale Interprofessional Longitudinal Clinical Experience (ICLE). He has given regional and national presentations at several medical societies including ACOEM, ACPM, AMIA, and ACP.
Dr. Mohammad holds a faculty appointment in the Department of Medicine, Yale University School of Medicine. He serves as the Director of Health for the Town of Orange.
His research interest includes reducing needlestick and sharps injuries among healthcare workers, implementing evidence-based Occupational Medicine guidelines, and using Informatics tools in improving quality of disability exams and delivering cost-effective population health.
