LectureLearning and the Brain ConferenceDetails02/22/2025 - 02/22/2025San Francisco, CA, United StatesSponsored by Educator ResourcesAbstract/SynopsisHow can educators measure and nurture adolescents’ concern for others in ways that drive meaningful change? In this talk, I will introduce the Concern for Others Scale—a brief yet comprehensive tool designed to assess the affective, behavioral, and cognitive dimensions of concern for others. Grounded in research that connects compassion, empathy, and prosocial behavior, I will present evidence of the scale’s psychometric rigor and share insights from its real-world applications. Attendees will leave with actionable insights and free access to this tool, empowering them to assess and enhance classroom practices aimed at fostering compassion for others, social consciousness, and social responsibility among adolescents. With tools such as this scale, together, we can cultivate classrooms rooted in kindness, mutual understanding, and a shared commitment to the greater good.
