The Someone Cares Closet (SCC) committee at Yale Child Study Center (YCSC) is coordinating a donation drive from December 2-22, 2025, to collect essential personal care and hygiene products for New Haven area families in need. Online wish lists are available on the SCC website, with items shipped directly to the center. Options for drop-off and pick-up are also available.
“The generosity of everyone who donates to SCC helps to ensure that the families we serve at the Child Study Center won’t go without the essentials they need during challenging times,” comments Anamaria Orozco, LCSW, who is coordinating the drive this December. The following items are requested through the current drive, with additional items noted on the SCC website.
- Toilet paper

- Curly hair products
- Baby wipes, diapers, & barrier cream
- Toothpaste & toothbrushes

Launched in 2022 to provide personal care and household cleaning products for families in need who receive services at YCSC, the SCC project was developed jointly by YCSC Assistant Clinical Professor Carolina Rivera Parrott, LCSW, and Claire’s Corner Copia owner and namesake Claire Criscuolo, RN, to addresses hygiene poverty, a term used to describe the inability to afford everyday hygiene items that many people take for granted.
