Biography
Dr. Cecilia Frometa is a licensed clinical psychologist and Associate Professor at the Yale University School of Medicine, Child Study Center. She specializes in culturally responsive mental health care and has dedicated her career to advancing clinical practice, research, training, supervision, and program development that promote equity-centered care for children and families. She is the Developer of the YCSC Resiliency Informed Clinical Formulation (RICF) Tool and provides clinical training in the area of Cultural Diversity to Clinical Fellows and Faculty. Dr. Frometa provides clinical expertise within the Parent and Family Development Program and has a long-standing commitment to supporting parents and caregivers of young children and adolescents. Dr. Frometa’s research examines how social determinants of health, systemic and structural experiences, and contextual stressors shape child development and family well-being. Her work focuses on developing and evaluating best-practice interventions and training models that enhance clinicians’ responsiveness to the lived experiences of the children and families they serve. She provides clinical services across the developmental spectrum, including parent-child treatment and longer-term therapy for children, adolescents, parents, and families. A clinician and educator, Dr. Frometa teaches psychiatry, psychology, and social work trainees at the Child Study Center. She also provides mental health consultation to statewide and community partners. She has been in the mental health field for over 25 years and has extensive clinical, teaching, mentoring, program development, consultation and supervisory experience. Her current research interests include understanding clinical engagement challenges of the underserved and multi-risk populations. Dr. Frometa focuses her teaching on building skills to improve culturally responsive mental health assessment, treatment and trauma-informed care. |
