Figure 6. Application of an electric field across a slice in vitro of the visual cortex resulted in a small depolarization at the level of the soma of layer 5 pyramidal cells. A 2 mV/mm field depolarized the soma by an average of 0.5 mV, while a 4 mV/mm field depolarized the soma by an average of approximately 1.2 mV.
