Intracellular Injection of Current In Vitro Replicates Contrast Adaptation In Vivo

Intracellular injection of a low, high, low amplitude sequence of sine wave current in vitro (bottom trace) replicated the adaptation of visual cortical neurons to presentation of visual stimuli (top histogram) or to the intracellular injection of current (middle histogram). This indicates that the properties of adaptation may be studied with the in vitro slice technique.
