Overview
Suman Baddam, MD, is a child psychiatrist who specializes in caring for children and adolescents with mental health concerns and sleep problems. He focuses on evaluating and treating conditions such as anxiety, depression, behavioral challenges, and sleep disorders in young people.
Dr. Baddam works with families to help children develop healthy sleep habits and addresses emotional or behavioral issues that may affect a child's well-being. He uses a range of therapeutic approaches tailored to each patient's needs.
As assistant professor of child psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Baddam conducts research exploring the relationship between sleep and mental health in children and adolescents. His work aims to identify how stress can impact sleep and emotional health, and he is currently studying biological markers that might signal sleep problems in youth with mental health disorders.
Dr. Baddam received medical training from Armed Forces Medical College, followed by general psychiatry training at University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He completed specialized training in child psychiatry and sleep medicine at Yale School of Medicine.
