Biography
Steven M. Cartun, M.D., is a board-certified psychiatrist and Clinical Instructor at Yale School of Medicine with a clinical and academic career spanning over thirty years. He has served in a variety of leadership, teaching, and consulting roles, specializing in the emotional and psychological dimensions of personal and professional decision making and growth.
Dr. Cartun is currently collaborating with Yale Ventures and Yale Online on interdisciplinary initiatives focused on the integration of artificial intelligence, empathy, and mental health. His work aims to explore how digital tools can support emotional resilience, enhance therapeutic relationships, and catalyze personal growth and independence.
In addition to his clinical and academic work, Dr. Cartun is expanding into the field of behavioral finance. Drawing on his background in psychiatry and decision science, he is developing human-centered approaches to investment advising that help individuals navigate emotional bias, risk perception, and financial transitions with greater clarity and confidence. He is currently preparing for Series 65 licensure and is exploring affiliation with fiduciary investment advisory firms where he can contribute a behavioral lens to client care and planning.
Steve Cartun MD completed a psychiatry residency at Yale Medical School in 1990, and also served as a Chief Resident. He also completed a research-based laboratory medicine residency at Yale Medical School in 1985.
