Clinical Care

Overview

Sarita Soares, MD, specializes in addiction medicine and internal medicine with a clinical focus on alcohol use disorder, medical detoxification, and suboxone treatment. She is chair of the Clinical Competency Committee and an associate program director for the Yale primary care residency.

Dr. Soares’s research interests include medical education and technology, musculoskeletal examination, diabetes pharmacotherapy, community-acquired infections, and reproductive system physiology. Her work explores animated videos for teaching diabetes treatments, tools for creating educational content, and comprehensive physical exams, particularly of the neck and spine.

Dr. Soares has received the Core Faculty Teacher of the Year Award, the Rosenkrantz Award for Pedagogical Advancement Grant, the Resident Teacher of the Year Award, a Presidential Scholarship, the ACP Internal Medicine Student Award, the Early Career Physician Teaching Award, and the Francis Gilman Blake Award for Outstanding Teaching of the Medical Sciences.

Dr. Soares is an assistant professor of medicine at Yale School of Medicine.
