This quality improvement project aimed to align clinical care with evidence-based asthma guidelines from GINA. I
assessed the baseline knowledge of residents at my continuity clinic site through administration of a pre-test I designed.
To address gaps in their understanding of current recommendations, I delivered a didactic lecture detailing the latest
asthma management strategies. I then worked with residents to identify patients who might benefit from updated treatment
approaches and built dot phrases and order sets in the electronic medical record to assist residents with implementation. A
post-intervention assessment showed marked improvements in resident understanding and more consistent asthma
treatment.
