Biography
Ms. Mashia is a graduate of the University of Connecticut, School of Social Work, and a Connecticut State Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She has over thirty years of psychiatric experience. Twenty two of those years were with the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services. Ms. Mashia worked for the Yale Law and Psychiatry Department as a Court Liaison at the Superior Court in New Haven for thirteen years, making treatment recommendations and presenting jail diversion plans to presiding judges, prosecutors, public defenders and private attorneys. For the last twelve years, she has been specializing in forensic social work, supervising the Health Care for Reentry Veterans Program at VA Connecticut. She currently works in collaboration with the Connecticut Department of Corrections at Cybulski Correctional Institute on the Veterans Service Unit, and also visits all Connecticut correctional institutions working with incarcerated Veterans on reentry planning. Ms. Mashia also has a long standing private practice, specializing in mental health, substance abuse, mitigation and personal injury work. She also holds an appointment as Clinical Instructor of Social Work for Yale University and is the Social Work Director of the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Fellowship Program.
