Biography

Michail Kokkorakis, MD, PhD is a postdoctoral fellow in the Section of Digestive Diseases at Yale School of Medicine, where his research centers on hepatology. As a physician-scientist, he studies the immunometabolic pathways driving alcoholic hepatitis and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis, combining multi-omics with advanced data analytics to map mechanisms of liver injury and repair and to prioritize drug targets.

In parallel, Dr. Kokkorakis runs population-based work spanning machine-learning risk stratification in deeply phenotyped cohorts such as the UK Biobank and Lifelines, and (pharmaco)epidemiology in large electronic health record networks such as TriNetX. Pairing the two lets him test mechanistic hypotheses against real-world evidence and surface targets that hold up at the population level. His broader aim is precision hepatology, with earlier detection of metabolic liver disease and treatments grounded in both biology and epidemiology.
