Biography
Dr. Remetz received his undergraduate degree from Bucknell University and was admitted early decision to Thomas Jefferson School of Medicine where he graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1981. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Yale University and Yale New Haven Hospital and continued his training at Yale-New Haven Hospital with a fellowship in Cardiovascular Medicine including specialized training in Interventional Cardiology. In 2000 Dr. Remetz pursued specialized training in peripheral interventions at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Boston. He joined the Cardiovascular Medicine faculty at Yale University in 1987 and has served continuously on the faculty since that time. He currently serves at the rank of Associate Professor of Medicine. Dr. Remetz has an active clinical practice specializing in both general and interventional cardiology. He has contributed to numerous clinical studies involving advances in coronary stent procedures and peripheral vascular medicine. He has performed several thousand coronary interventions and is currently active in these pursuits in the catheterization lab at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Dr. Remetz has served on several Yale New Haven Hospital and Heart and Vascular Center committees including the Hospital Credentials Committee. He chaired the Heart and Vascular Center Operations Leadership Committee. He is very active in teaching Internal Medicine Housestaff and Cardiovascular Fellows. He currently practices in the ambulatory setting at both Branford and Norwich. He performs cardiac catheterization and interventions at both Yale-New Haven Hospital and Lawrence and Memorial Hospital. He has practiced Cardiovascular Medicine in Connecticut since 1987. His interests include general cardiology, preventive cardiology, treatment of acute heart attacks, peripheral vascular medicine and cardiac catheterization. He has been regularly listed in Connecticut Magazine’s list of “Best Doctors.”
Dr. Remetz is an outdoorsman and pursues fishing, woodcraft, gardening and hiking. He owns a wooded farm in Hamden and particularly enjoys organic gardening with his wife Linda. He is interested in methods of sustainable living and renewable energy.
