Biography

A native of rural northern Michigan, Dr. Beasley was raised by a physician father. His Bachelor of Science degree was earned at Michigan State University, where he received several campus honors before graduation. The following two years were spent teaching science and mathematics at a rural secondary school in Tanzania as a member of the United States Peace Corps. During his time there, he met his wife, Mwavisu, and they started a family with the birth of their first child. In the years following the birth of a second daughter, Dr. Beasley returned to Michigan State University to pursue a medical degree. A twelve-year medical education, during which two more daughters joined the family, culminated in a fellowship in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology at Yale New Haven Hospital. Dr. Beasley then joined the Yale Section of Cardiovascular Medicine upon graduation. Aside from attending patients on inpatient cardiovascular wards at Yale New Haven Hospital at York Street and St. Raphael's, he also sees patients at a clinic in Norwich and works in cardiac catheterization labs at St. Raphael's in New Haven and Lawrence and Memorial in New London. Dr. Beasley is also a Medical Corps Officer in the United States Navy Reserve, drilling monthly at the New London Submarine Base. He has found pleasure in being able to finally settle down with his family along the beautiful shoreline of Connecticut.
