Biography

Dr. Melanie Brady is a neurological surgery resident at Yale New Haven Hospital. She earned her undergraduate degree from Wesleyan University, where she triple-majored in Neuroscience, Biochemistry, and Psychology. Driven by a deep passion for scientific discovery, she completed a PhD in Neuroscience at Yale where she received Honors Distinction for her novel research using neural organoids to model basal ganglia development and explore the underlying mechanisms of Tourette’s Syndrome. Inspired by the clinical implications of her research, Dr. Brady returned to her home state of New Jersey to pursue a medical degree at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School (NJMS), with a strong commitment to serving her community. It was at NJMS where she discovered her calling in neurosurgery—a field that captivated her with its technical rigor, diagnostic complexity, and dedication to translational science. As president of the NJMS chapter of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, she launched multiple community-focused initiatives, including programs to offer stroke education and free clinical services for residents of Newark. She remains dedicated to advancing neurosurgical care through both scientific innovation and community engagement.
