Biography

I am a board-eligible, fellowship-trained pediatric orthopedic surgeon. I graduated medical school at Drexel University College of Medicine, and then completed my general orthopedic surgery residency training at University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM. There, I was exposed to a breadth of orthopedic pathology and discovered my love of pediatric orthopedics. I then pursued an additional year of sub-specialized training in pediatric orthopedic surgery at Seattle Children's Hospital (with University of Washington) in Seattle, WA.

Clinical Care

Overview

Marisa Su, MD, is a pediatric orthopedic surgeon who cares for patients from infancy through young adulthood. She specializes in diagnosing and treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions in children, including injuries, congenital differences, and growth-related orthopedic disorders. Dr. Su provides both surgical and nonsurgical treatment options to help children recover from broken bones, joint problems, and other issues that affect bones, muscles, and joints.

Dr. Su is dedicated to working closely with families throughout their child’s care, making sure they are well-informed and comfortable with every decision. She emphasizes the importance of treating not only the child, but supporting the entire family in a thoughtful and collaborative manner.

According to Dr. Su, “There is no textbook on how one should feel or behave when your child gets hurt, or diagnosed with a long-term medical condition. My job is to help patients and their families through this uncertainty. While there are no guarantees in medicine, what I can promise is that I am always on the patient’s side. I will be their fiercest advocate, and staunchest supporter. I will explain everything to my best ability so that families can make the most informed decision, and offer any skills or expertise I have to bring about the best outcome for my patients.”

As an assistant professor at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Su is committed to advancing pediatric orthopedic care and training future physicians in this specialty.

Dr. Su received her medical training at Drexel University College of Medicine, followed by a residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of New Mexico. She completed a fellowship in pediatric orthopedic surgery at Seattle Children’s Hospital with the University of Washington.
