Professional:

Dr. Johnson performs the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, including minor and major office-based surgery (basic oral surgery, surgery for impacted teeth, dental implants and bone grafting), reconstructive jaw surgery / orthognathic surgery, surgical management of maxillofacial pathology (jaw cysts and tumors), maxillofacial trauma , and infection management.

Dr. Johnson is full-time faculty at Yale-New Haven Hospital where he serves as the Program Director for the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Training Program and Associate Chief of Dental Services.

Dr. Johnson has been involved in various research projects and has mentored multiple Yale residents in their research, resulting in publications and presentations at national meetings.

Dr. Johnson has lectured locally and nationally on topics that include head and neck history and physical exam, craniofacial topics, maxillofacial bone grafting for dental implants, orthognathic surgery, maxillofacial trauma, head and neck infections, anesthesia, safety culture, office-based emergency preparedness, and the surgical management of medically complex patients. Additionally, he teaches resident courses in Surgical Anatomy, Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, and Anesthesia Emergency Management.

Dr. Johnson is the proud recipient of the Bernard Levine Teacher of the Year Award.
