Biography
Dr. Luz Amaro-Quireza is a board-certified optometrist with extensive clinical and academic experience in ophthalmology and optometry across the United States and internationally. She earned her Doctor of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry in Boston and holds advanced certifications in therapeutic pharmaceutical agents, glaucoma management, orthokeratology, and specialty contact lens fitting.
Before joining Yale Ophthalmology, Dr. Amaro-Quireza served as a faculty attending optometrist at Columbia University Medical Center and held positions at leading institutions including the Retina Group of New York, the US Air Force Hospital in Italy, Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center, and the New England Eye Center at Tufts University. She has contributed to multiple peer-reviewed publications and has presented her research at international conferences, with a focus on retinal disease, electrophysiology, and myopia management.
In addition to her academic and clinical work, Dr. Amaro-Quireza has participated in humanitarian missions to El Salvador, providing free eye care and surgery to underserved communities
