Biography

Klea Nito earned her Bachelor of Science from the University of Connecticut, majoring in Biological Sciences with minors in Molecular & Cellular Biology and Physiology & Neurobiology. As an undergraduate, she conducted research in the Giardina Lab, where she investigated the expression patterns and spatial organization of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), a family of zymogens frequently upregulated in colorectal cancer. Her first introduction to research was through the Sumigray Lab at Yale, where she studied NKX2.3, a gut-specific transcription factor expressed in mesenchymal cells.

Currently at Yale, Klea is working under the mentorship of Dr. Frederick Wilson, studying the role of PRMT5 in lung cancer and exploring novel therapeutic targets for translational applications.
