Katarina Braun, MD/PhD

I grew up in upstate New York and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I attended undergrad at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and majored in Evolutionary Biology as well as Anthropology. I then attended the University of Wisconsin's Medical Scientist Training Program (MD/PhD program) from 2014 - 2022. I completed my PhD in Thomas Friedrich's lab in the Department of Pathobiological Sciences in the field of Viral Evolution and specifically focused on avian influenza viruses and SARS-CoV-2. I start my residency in Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences at Yale New Haven Health. I firmly believe that research is one of the primary forces underpinning improved patient outcomes and am delighted by the opportunities I will have in OB/Gyn at Yale to contribute to advancing care for these individuals and populations.
